She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others.
I just watched the movie in 3D on the opening day here in the Philippines.<br/><br/>Visuals &amp; Cinematography: It was an anime brought to life. Every sequence is a great experience. I think the live action was on par or even exceeded the visuals from the anime movies before it. <br/><br/>Pacing: They just simply did it right. It did not bore me.I am satisfied.<br/><br/>Plot &amp; Story: I really appreciate how they deviated the story but still were able to retain the essence and themes of the source material. I hold section 9&#39;s unity and trust with each other with a high regard.<br/><br/>Actors: Scarlett Johansson delivers in this movie IMO. Beat Takeshi as Aramaki is badass and a awesome leader. Batou is great and complements well with the major. Kuze is freaky as hell. He is as they initially described as a combination of the Puppet Master &amp; Kuze of the anime series. <br/><br/>Music: The movie could have been mind blowing if they try to tap into Kenji Kawai&#39;s Iconic sound track and Yoko Kano&#39;s &quot;Inner Universë&quot;and &quot;Torukia&quot;. It is still good though. I still gave this movie a 9 out of 10 because of the musical score that could have been a lot better.<br/><br/>Final Thoughts: Go see it in 3D and be immersed into a futuristic world where technology and humanity become one. Its a movie that stands on its own. A must watch movie!<br/><br/>PS: Hoping for a sequel. ^_^
Pros-Aesthetically stunning and very engaging (one that should experienced in theaters)<br/><br/>Cons-Lack of dialogue and a bit too much action (very Americanized)<br/><br/>Fake Cons that you&#39;ll see in reviews -Cliche&#39;d and borrowing from films like the Matrix (even though the Matrix was directly inspired by Ghost in the Shell) -White Washing (even though the creator of Ghost in the Shell said it&#39;s an irrelevant and bizarre claim) -Not good compared to the original <br/><br/>Conclusion: It&#39;s a good film and certainly worth the watch. The original was always a big shadow to overcome, but people have deliberately made the film look much worse than it actually is. It certainly isn&#39;t a masterpiece but one that should be respected as a quality cinematic piece.
While it offers some new ideas, the movie also suffers from the same pacing problems of the original.
Several details and approach differ from the original anime. The Ghost in the Shell franchise is based off of a manga (comic), and so the films and series and even video games have all taken creative license from the original source material.<br/><br/>Making a live action film made certain styles and approaches to the physical rendering of the world impractical resulting in many visual differences to the new film that imbue an 80&#39;s cyberpunk feel similar to that of Blade Runner.<br/><br/>Another difference is that the storyline is a blend of several of the existing series, and does not follow the same storyline as the original film. Characters and back story are predominantly drawn from Stand Alone Complex 2nd gig, Stand Alone Complex, Arise and the original film.<br/><br/>The degree of violence and swearing in the original film is on a completely different level from the live action film. Creative camera angles obscure the genitals of the characters, and very little swearing is present in the new film.<br/><br/>There is no question that this is a Ghost in the Shell story, but in many ways the philosophy is simplified and the pace is much faster than the original anime. In the Ghost in the Shell stories, the Major has a completely prosthetic body. Although written and published in Japan, the original comic and some of the series show the Major in several bodies, and at times without a body entirely. It is believed by many that the artist&#39;s rendering of her prosthetic body was deliberately ambiguous in its ethnicity, while her &quot;ghost&quot; (the spirit that makes up her character) is also of obscure origin. It is assumed that as the stories largely circulate in the region of Japan and east asia, that her original form was likely Japanese, though the Major speculates at times that she may be synthetic all-together; this is all a part of the philosophy discussed in the stories.<br/><br/>In the live action film, the Major is given a Japanese origin for her ghost.
